A CCTV drainage inspection uses a specialised robotic camera system to inspect the inside of sewer and stormwater pipelines without excavation. The camera travels through the pipe while recording high-definition footage, allowing defects, blockages, damage and construction issues to be identified safely and accurately.
At HD Inspections, we use robotic CCTV crawler systems for pipelines 150mm diameter and above, providing inspections for councils, civil contractors, developers, plumbers and asset owners across Queensland and Northern NSW.

HD Inspections specialises in CCTV inspections for sewer and stormwater pipelines from 150mm diameter and larger. This includes PVC, concrete, polypropylene, vitrified clay and other common drainage pipe materials used in civil and infrastructure projects.
Our equipment is suitable for mainline drainage inspections, subdivision works, culverts, council assets, stormwater networks and sewer infrastructure requiring condition assessment, defect investigation or handover reporting.
-
For the best inspection results, pipelines should be reasonably clean and free from heavy debris, silt, grease or standing obstructions. Dirty pipes can reduce visibility and may prevent the CCTV crawler from travelling through the line properly.
If required, pipeline jetting can be carried out before inspection to remove sediment, roots, construction debris or blockages. Cleaning the line beforehand helps ensure more accurate reporting and clearer identification of defects.
-
HD Inspections provides professional CCTV inspection reporting using WinCan software, including footage, defect observations, still images and structured inspection data suitable for civil, council and asset management projects.
Where required, inspections can also support WSA05 sewer reporting and PN5-style stormwater condition assessment, depending on project specifications and client requirements.

Laser profiling is an add-on service used during CCTV inspections to measure pipe ovality, deformation and internal shape. A laser ring is projected onto the inside of the pipe, allowing the internal profile to be assessed more accurately than with standard video alone.
This is commonly used for new subdivision infrastructure, flexible pipelines, off-maintenance inspections and projects where pipe integrity or installation quality needs to be verified.
